The West Bank has a population of 2.9 million and annual per capita rice consumption is estimated at 55 pounds but is substantially higher by the Israeli Arab sector than the Jewish sector. Israel imported 130,000 MT of rice in 2019; U.S. rice sales amounted to 19,900 MT, with a value of $18.3 million in 2019, this is a substantial increase of 91 percent in volume compared to 2018.
USA Rice Activities
USA Rice launched a promotional program in the West Bank in 2019 with the aim of supporting the sales of U.S. rice brands available on the market. Promotional activities included in-store promotions, outdoor and radio advertising in major cities in the West Bank.
