ARLINGTON, VA – On Episode 98 of The Rice Stuff podcast, hosts Lesley Dixon and Michael Klein discuss the recent California field day at the Rice Experiment Station in Biggs, California.

Dixon interviewed rice researcher Telha Rehman about his team’s study on Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) methods that have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from rice fields.  The technique, a USA Rice-climate smart practice, is typically associated with the mid-south, but could be put to use out west as well.

The episode also covers a recap of field day activities, a review of Sacramento sushi, tales from the road, and an interview with California rice grower Matt Dedmond—and Dixon and Klein vow to never again record while chairs are being broken down in the background.

New episodes of The Rice Stuff are published on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and can be found on your favorite podcast services or www.thericestuffpodcast.com.
