ARLINGTON, VA – The Rice Stuff podcast frequently looks at the nuts and bolts, philosophy and approaches to rice promotion, international trade, agronomy, and more.  The new episode of the podcast, available now, takes listeners behind the scenes of the corner office at USA Rice.

First, Director of Strategic Initiatives Katie Maher talks about the new ThinkRice.com, what went into relaunching the popular site, and what inspirations she and her team took from other sites.  From recipe photography to dynamic optimization, Maher explains why the new consumer-facing site will help more Americans think rice.

“People just expect websites to work, but a lot goes into making sure they do and that the user experience is positive,” said show cohost Michael Klein.  “I’m glad Katie came on the show to break it all down for us.  It should give people a newfound appreciation for our website and any site they visit that works well.”

Klein and cohost Lesley Dixon were then joined by USA Rice President & CEO Betsy Ward to talk about what the trade association does for the industry and how it stacks up to other trade associations.

“Betsy has such an interesting perspective on advocacy, it was really enlightening to talk with her about her tenure at rice and with other trade groups,” said Dixon.  “I’ve often heard people say that ‘in Washington, rice fights above its weight class.’  Betsy explains exactly why that is the case and how the industry benefits from having such a dedicated team looking out for their interests.”

New episodes of The Rice Stuff are published on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and can be found on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher.  All episodes and additional information can be found on the podcast’s dedicated website at thericestuffpodcast.com.  The site includes a “Podcast 101” section on the “About” page for people new to the medium and a means to reach out to the show hosts and guests via the “Talk to Us” button.
