WASHINGTON DC – USA Rice is partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to host a joint trade mission to Guatemala City, Guatemala, from March 2-7, 2025. This mission provides a valuable platform for U.S. agribusinesses to strengthen ties with key stakeholders in the country.
The deadline to apply for the Guatemala trade mission is tomorrow, December 3. Interested companies should indicate their affiliation with USA Rice when completing the application. For more information or to apply, visit the
USDA trade mission page.
Participants will engage in market briefings, and networking events led by USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff and regional experts. USA Rice will have a specialized schedule to address rice-specific tailored business-to-business meetings, site visits, and engage directly with rice industry counterparts.
“We are excited to return to Guatemala after our successful 2018 mission,” said FAS Administrator Daniel Whitley. “This trade mission offers an ideal platform to deepen trade ties in the region.”
Guatemala, the largest economy in Central America, has demonstrated strong economic growth and became the region’s top market for U.S. agricultural products in 2023, importing $1.7 billion in goods. In 2024, the U.S. has exported nearly 86,000 MT of rice there.
This will be the second USDA Agribusiness Trade Mission in 2025, with additional missions planned for Côte d'Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Mexico, Peru, and Taiwan. Details on these missions will be announced early next year.
