INDIAN WELLS, CA – Last month 35 members of the Central American Rice Federation (FECARROZ) gathered here to conduct their annual Board of Directors meeting in advance of the 2023 USA Rice Outlook Conference.  New executive board members were elected in addition to other business conducted during the meetings.

FECARROZ executive board members for the next term include: Kamal Elias Dieck (Honduras), president; Juan Carlos Amador (Nicaragua), vice president; Eduardo Rojas Villalobos (Costa Rica), secretary; Jose Tudo (El Salvador), treasurer; and Roberto Solorzano (Guatemala), alternate.

“We congratulate Kamal Elias Dieck on his new role as president as well as the elected executive board members of FECARROZ this year,” said USA Rice President & CEO Peter Bachmann.  “Central America is an essential export market that is vital to the health and success of the U.S. rice industry.”

USA Rice conducts hundreds of promotional activities in the Central American countries of El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua to increase consumption and consumer awareness of U.S.-origin rice and the brands that source it.

“Working with FECARROZ will be a vital part in us recapturing market share in the region,” said Asiha Grigsby, USA Rice director of international promotion for the Western Hemisphere.  “We have a long history of collaboration with FECARROZ and look forward with anticipation to strengthening our professional relationship well into the future.  We’ll be meeting with representatives in Costa Rica next week and that will be just one of many more meetings this year.”
