The first meal of the day sets the stage for everything that follows. Let’s help our students start their day on the right foot with a nutritious and delicious rice-based breakfast that fuels their body and mind.

As school foodservice professionals and chefs, you go above and beyond every day to nourish our students. Now it’s time for us to celebrate you! We invite you to submit your most creative, tasty, and wholesome breakfast recipes using U.S.-grown rice. Let’s inspire a new generation of morning meals that make a difference!

About the Contest

Share your best breakfast recipe made with U.S.-grown rice!  The submission deadline is March 31, 2025 and winners will be announced in April 2025.  There is no limit to the number of recipes you may submit.

 

How to Enter

How to Enter

Submit your recipe via our entry form.  Below is the information you'll need to have prepared for your submission:

  • Your contact information including a short bio
  • Information on where you source rice, popular rice recipes you serve, and any feedback on using rice on your menu
  • Recipe submission details (i.e. yield, serving size, ingredients, instructions, etc.)
  • Two high-quality photos, prior to portioning and post portioning
    • iPhone photos are accepted, though professional photography is encouraged.
    • Photography Tip: if you are using a smartphone, take your photos in Portrait Mode for a higher quality image.

  • First prize: $1,000 and commercial cooker, measuring cups and rice paddles
  • Second prize: $750 and commercial cooker
  • Third prize: $500 and commercial cooker

The first ten entries will receive measuring cups and rice paddles.

Judging Criteria

Judging Criteria

Each recipe will be evaluated by members of the USA Rice K-12 Chef Advisory Board. Scoring system will be points based, based on the following factors:

  1. Presentation, including visual appeal and ease of replication
  2. Innovation, including creativity and use of ingredients
  3. Suitability for school menus, aligning with nutrition guidelines and being feasible for large-scale prep
